Just Great! If you are a fan of this song tell me that at around five minutes you didn’t get chills.

1. Funny People : C+  Please get more creative with dialogue. The whole world doesn’t think obscene jokes are that funny. Had the chance to be a powerful movie and for some parts it was but overall the crudeness won out and ruined my excitement.

2. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: B+ – Really liked the sequel. Great effects as usual and Shia Labeouf is pretty entertaining to watch.

3. Year One: F - Every review I heard or saw said it was terrible so I didn’t waste my money.

4. Public Enemies: B+ – the movie was long but it was so well acted it made up for it. I am still not a fan of this cutting edge style of videography but it didn’t ruin the experience for me.

5. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince: B – Good movie. Needed more action. I don’t read the books but for a movie it was kind of anti-climatic.

6. Away we go: A – Still man crushing on John Krasinski. Good movie amplified by a great Alexi Murdoch Soundtrack and some incredibly powerful raw scenes.

7. District 9: A – Loved it. Great movie. Not much else to say.

8. Extract: C – Ehh… not as gut busting funny as Office Space but still good. Jason Bateman saves any movie from mediocrity in my opinion.

I also for this post wanted to put the movies I am most excited about for the fall season.

1. Invictus – 12/11 – Release Date - Clint Eastwood directs Morgan Freeman portraying Nelson Mandela post apartheid in South Africa. Unbelievable.
2. Sherlock Holmes –  12/25 – Guy Ritchie, Robert Downey Jr, Jude Law, Rachel McAdams  – Sign me up.
3. Precious – 11/06 – Oprah and Tyler Perry team up to give us a raw and tear jerking portrayal of a young girl struggling to make it out of the hell she lives in. Check out the trailer and tell me you didn’t tear up.
4. Where The Wild Things Are – 10/16 – Great book that looks well done by Spike Jonze and crew.
5. The Road – 11/25 – Cormac MacCarthy post apocalyptic father story portrayed on screen by Aragorn? Midnight showing anyone?
6. Nine – 11/25 – No idea what to expect but everything Daniel Day Lewis does blows my mind.
7. Avatar – 12/18 – James Cameron intrigues me with this supposed revolutionary movie style. You win I will go watch it.
8. The Men Who Stare Out Goats – 11/6 – Looks creative and well acted enough to go see. George Clooney, Ewan Mcgregor, and Kevin Spacey all star in this Iraq based paranormal war comedy.
9. Couples Retreat – 10/9 – Vince Vaughn is my favorite comedic actor. Add in Jason Bateman and John Favreau and you have a winner.
10. Zombieland – 10/2 – Call me stupid but this zombie comedy has me excited to go watch Woody Harrelson do work.
11. Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day – Loved the first one, I’m a bit terrified about trying to do too much for the sequel.
12. 2012 – 11/13 – Consider me a sucker for apocalyptic movies.

I was driving to work listening to a Robbie Seay Band song called Love Wins. As I was driving I stopped at a stop light and began to sing along with the ‘tag’ of the song that says,

As this tag played in my ears I looked over to the gas station across the street and watched a man get out from his truck walk over to the pump next to him and help an older woman work the gas pump. As I watched it with those words in my background I began to think about the importance of love and the power within the people of God loving the world around them. What an incredible vision of Colossians 1:27, “Christ in you, the hope of glory!”

Every picture on the left part of the video is the people of Hillsong and their concerts. Very powerful video. If this makes you angry for whatever reason, good. I pray for action. I pray that God would convict me and break me of everything I am doing to aid in the oppression of the beloved children of God. Jesus come.

Now I am back in the city trying to get back into a routine. I am trying to run and trying to eat a little better so I don’t die by the age of forty. (That’s only thirteen years away?) I hope you all are doing well and I will see you in another two weeks!

What are some legitimate reasons to not overhaul the healthcare system?

Why are you for or against a “socialized” healthcare system?

My thoughts of course:

I think the healthcare system is almost criminal in what it does to people. I think we have great doctors and great service and in fact we need more of those great doctors and nurses, but healthcare shouldn’t be bankrupting people to get taken care of?

For those of you that think that you’re covered because you are insured don’t forget about how much that is costing you every month let alone the amount you pay past your deductible if you have a plan that percentages you out after the deductible.

I have paid so much money for different things in the past,  let alone for what the insurance companies pick and choose that they will and do cover? It seems like every doctors visit i have is out of pocket anyways?

Another point I get tired of hearing is that the people should be able to take care of themselves. Or the “Why should I pay for them?” Mindset. I know that we all have the fear that there are too many people taking advantage of the system both with welfare and maybe someday with a socialized system but i think that number is way less than we think it is.

Lastly, I think that healthcare shouldn’t be something just for those that can afford it. Leave that element of deservedness to cars, clothing, vacations, and of course education.

Like I said however I am not well versed on the system as is nor do I claim to be I’m just trying to figure it out. I think it is costing us crazy money as is and anything to stop the bleeding, figuratively and literally, would be a help. Enjoy.

Last week was our summer camp Dayspring. It was a very good week filled with a lot of awe at the greatest and majesty of our God. I think it was a great week for our students, but we will see the longevity of the week.

I have given six messages in the last two weeks so my brain is a little fried. I’ve talked about the crucifixion of Jesus, how we’ve lost the joy of our salvation, about redemption for us being found in and only in Jesus, about our faith being an active and moving faith, about the resurrection and great commission, and lastly about us being Christ’s ambassadors on earth and how we’ve been given the ministry of reconciliation.

That’s a lot of information and a lot of big issues. I am looking forward to this weekend’s First Sunday! I will not be speaking I will be leading worship.

Summer is so busy for youth ministries? I don’t really know whether that is a good thing or a bad thing for our students but I do know that I’m ready for a huge nap.
